The QBL Grinder 4 Part is our own four-piece grinder, machined from anodised aluminium at 63 mm across — the size most people settle on once they have tried a small one. Diamond-shaped teeth in the grind chamber, a 60-micron pollen screen below it, and a collection tray under that, so fine material separates out on its own instead of being lost in the mix. A magnetic lid holds it shut in a pocket or a drawer, and a scraper and brush come in the box. Available in red or gold. Designed and backed by Quick Bloom Lights, stocked in Sydney and shipped domestically.
Four parts, and each one is doing something
A two-part grinder grinds and that is it. The four-part layout adds two stages underneath. Material is broken down in the toothed chamber and falls through into the second chamber. Beneath that sits the 60-micron mesh screen — fine enough that only the smallest particles pass through, so they collect in the bottom tray on their own over weeks of ordinary use rather than being mixed back in and lost.
The practical effect is that you end up with two products from the same grinder instead of one, without doing anything extra. You just empty the tray when there is something in it.
Aluminium, diamond teeth and a lid that stays on
The body is machined aluminium with an anodised finish and a knurled band around the grind chamber for grip — it turns with a half-twist rather than a fight, and it doesn't get slippery. The teeth are diamond-shaped and arranged to shear rather than crush, which is what gives an even grind instead of a paste.
The lid is held by a magnet. That is not a detail you notice when it works, and very much one you notice when it doesn't — a grinder that pops open in a bag ruins the bag.
Tools in the box
A scraper and a brush are included. The scraper lifts material off the collection tray without scratching it, and the brush clears the screen mesh — which is the part that actually determines whether the grinder still works properly in a year. Most grinders this size ship without either.
This one or the toothless? Two different jobs. This 4-part has diamond teeth and a 60-micron pollen screen — the choice if you want the screen and tray separating fine material out. Our 5-Piece Toothless Grinder instead uses magnetic pressure with nothing sharp to snap off, and adds a built-in storage chamber so prepared and unprepared material travel in one unit. Teeth and a screen, or nothing to break and storage built in.

Questions we get asked
Is 63 mm big or small?
Full-size. The common sizes are roughly 40 mm (pocket), 50 mm (mid) and 60–65 mm (full). At 63 mm you get a wide grind chamber that handles a decent amount in one turn, and it still fits a jacket pocket — just not comfortably in jeans.
What is the pollen screen actually for?
It sorts by particle size. Anything finer than 60 microns drops through into the bottom tray and everything coarser stays above it. Nothing is added or removed — it just separates what the grinding already produced, and collects in the tray over time.
How do I clean it?
Take the four parts apart, brush the teeth and the screen out dry with the brush supplied, and only use isopropyl alcohol if it has got genuinely sticky — let it dry fully before reassembling. Don't put it in a dishwasher; heat and detergent are hard on the anodised finish, the magnet and the screen mesh.
Which should I buy, this or the 5-piece toothless?
Buy this one if the pollen screen and tray matter to you. Buy the 5-piece toothless if you want a built-in storage chamber and nothing sharp that can snap off. Neither is a better grinder than the other — they are answering different questions.
Does the magnet actually hold in a bag?
Yes, for normal carrying — that is what it is there for. It is a magnet rather than a thread, so it is not a seal: if you want odour contained as well, put the grinder inside one of the smell proof bags rather than relying on the lid.
Red or gold — any difference?
Finish only. Same 63 mm body, same teeth, same screen, same tools in the box.
